these are the last baintings

in a show at the taos country club which opens in may.

october 13, 2010
painting workshops are finished
for the year. these are three painting that i finished during
the workshop. we had a great group and i hope students will send
me some photos. see workshop section for next years dates. we
will only do two classes next year.
i have been working on pottery
getting ready for my 29th annual open studio. this takes place
november 6 and 7 at the pottery studio in pilar, new mexico.
i have had an open studio every year that dixon has had their
now famous studio tour. it is hard to believe that it has been
29 years.
so please come out and see
holly, laverne, myself and tour the studio. we will have some
food and drink and it is always great weather.

our first painting
workshop of the year has been finished for two weeks now. the
next one starts september 26. it is full but we are adding another
"aspens and cottonwoods" the first week of october.
this is just the most beautiful time to see new mexico with the
yellow trees against the blue sky.
i have been mainly
working in clay but do have a few new paintings from the last
month.

this is my 40th year of making
pottery. i have just fired some of this style fish pattern.
more should be coming this summer. |

these are the first to
be finished of a group of teapots that i made. some of these
are michael cardew style teapots. michael was a big influence
on my early pottery and so i go back to some of his shapes from
time to time. in 1976 i got to spend three weeks with michael.
michael cardew was an english potter born in 1901 who spent most
of his life making pottery in africa. |

this last month i have worked
mostly on paintings of the ranchos church. i need to get back
to pottery making for the next couple of weeks before we head
off to mexico later this month.

it is still not spring here
yet and i have been working mostly on pottery. however last week
i did finish a few paintings of the ranchos de taos church.
also i will have an older painting,
iglesia arroyo seco 3
in a show at the taos inn to benefit the taos
land trust . the show will be up until august with an opening
april 16 at 4.30.

february 2010
this month my mother
died after a long illness. i did some drawings of her on her
last day which have given me ideas for some woodcut prints. i
really don't have the time for these but it is something that
i enjoyed doing in the past and would like to do again.
here is a lino cut i did a few weeks back. i have cut three wood
blocks also but have not had the time to proof them.
with all of the giclees
that are being made i think it would be difficult to sell hand
made prints. i would just like to do some work in black and white
for a change.
